Solve the right problem before you invest in the solution. In one week we find out what you actually need to solve and what you already have to solve it. On Friday you have a clear scope, a solid estimate and a go/no-go recommendation.
A fit when
“We're about to put serious money into a solution, and we're not sure it solves the right problem.”
On Friday you know what to build, what to reuse, what it is likely to cost and whether to start at all.
Expensive projects rarely fail on the technology. They fail at the start, when a team solves the wrong problem well. And the cheaper AI makes building, the more it matters to understand the problem first.
A Discovery is like an architect's design: it costs a fraction of the house and shows what the build will really cost. It is a project of its own, with a fixed scope and a fixed price you know before we start.
How the week runs
- Monday and Tuesday: we work with you and your team: the people who own the problem, the people who live with it, and the systems you already have.
- Wednesday and Thursday: we work through what we found: the options, what can be reused and what it would take.
- Friday: the result. We walk you through it, and the document is yours.
What you get
- The problem you are actually solving, written down and agreed
- What you already have that can solve it, before anything is bought or built
- A clear scope, a solid estimate and a go/no-go recommendation
- A result that is yours, whether or not you work with us afterwards
If you hire us for the project that follows, we credit the price of the Discovery against it.
What a skipped Discovery costs
An example from fifteen years of production software: an e-commerce team wanted emails that take customers straight to a review. Their platform was modular enough to build that in-house, in about 20 person-days (roughly €12,000 to €16,000). Instead, the team moved email and reviews to outside providers: about 60 person-days of migration (roughly €36,000 to €48,000), licence fees on top, and less control over its own system.
The detour cost about three times as much: €24,000 to €32,000 more. A one-week Discovery would have shown that the solution was already in the house. That is exaptation in the literal sense: putting what is already there to a new use instead of buying or building new.
