Concept

Predictability

Also: Vorhersagbarkeit

How far the future behaviour of a system can be known in advance — high in clear systems, achievable with effort in complicated ones, and only partial and short-term in complex ones.

People tend to create predictability by adding constraints rather than removing them, which is one reason chaos in human systems rarely lasts. Predictability is valuable, but forcing it onto complex situations produces brittle plans.
